Bisley Imperial Meeting News 2014

Nottinghamshire County Teams

This year the County Fullbore Team collected silver medals in the County Long match, only one point behind the winners, Hertfordshire, and one point ahead of the next three teams, County of London, Hampshire and Devon. This is the highest place they have achieved for some years.

This success was unfortunately not to be repeated in the County Short Range Match where Nottinghamshire came 24th leaving them at 12th place overall.

For details of scores click the link to County Team Scores, or go to the NRA Imperial Results pages for a full run down of scores.

Individual Nottinghamshire shooters also featured in the Families and Fulton Pairs results. In the Families RSF and SD Shouler came 4th, with JA and TJ Bullock in 8th place and CJ and ITR Jobling in 22nd. RSF Shouler partnered by D Rose snatched second place in the Fulton Pairs class X competition and collected silver medals.

More details of scores are at Teams Scores.

The Great Britain team which won the Kolapore Challenge Cup included as Captain, RP Rosling, and Adjutant, JPS Bloomfield, with RSF Shouler being selected as one of the reserves. RSF Shouler was also selected to shoot for England in the Mackinnon and National and TJ Bullock as reserve for the National. Both matches were won by the England teams.

Results of the Mackinnon and National Matches are on the NRA Imperial results pages and also on the England Team Scores link.

Individual competitions

Match Rifle

Many more Nottinghamshire shooters are taking part in Match Rifle (MR) shooting and their names have appeared in the prize lists as can be found from the link to Individual MR Scores. There were no winners of the top prizes. The highest placed Nottinghamshire shooter in the Hopton Aggregate was HMS Mott at 27th, closely followed by SJ Whitby, RWS Whitby and FK Day. RWS Whitby had the honour of being selected as Adjutant to the England Elcho team. He has also been appointed Adjutant to the GB Match Rifle team going to Australia to compete in the Woomera Match in March 2016

Target Rifle

The TR week was characterised by high temperatures and a fast changing fickle wind making shooting more of a challenge then usual. RSF Shouler produced consistently good scores to come 16th in the Grand Aggregate with 692.94v with a clear lead from the next Notts shooter, RP Rosling on 669.55v at 336th. The winner of the Grand was PG Kent with an excellent score of 700.102v dropping only 5 points over the 11 competitions that make up the aggregate.

The other major competition, the Queen's Prize, had RSF and SD Shouler and JA and TJ Bullock with JRJ Kennedy making the cut of 102.12v to compete in the second stage. Here RSF Shouler and TJ Bullock both with 147 beat the cut at 146.17v to shoot in the final at 900 and 1000 yards. Sadly SD Shouler missed the cut by one V-bull. RSF Shouler went on to achieve 13th place with 294.30v behind the winner RCT Jeens on 297.44v. TJ Bullock was 57th on 289.30v.

With his consistent shooting, RSF Shouler also appears in almost all the prize lists for the TR Meeting. The details of Nottinghamshire shooters scores can be seen on the link to Individual TR Scores.
