The First Annual General Meeting of the Association

The first financial year of the Nottinghamshire Rifle Association ended on 31st December 1861 and the first AGM was called for Tuesday, 12th February 1862.

The meeting was not well attended and the only names we have are for the Chairman, Colonel Holden, who was appointed a Vice-President at the inaugural meeting, and the Secretary, Surgeon Wright. The exact numbers present are not known. The only business conducted was the adoption of the accounts and the re-election of Vice-Presidents and Council members. Two additional Vice-Presidents were to be interviewed by the Chairman.

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE RIFLE ASSOCIATION
FIRST GENERAL ANNUAL MEETING

The first general annual meeting of the Nottinghamshire Rifle Association was held on Tuesday, in the Committee-room of the Corn Exchange, Thurland Street, Nottingham, for the transaction of general business. The meeting had been convened by circular, and the attendance was very thin. The chair was taken by Colonel Holden.

The CHAIRMAN, on taking his seat, expressed his regret at the small attendance, and hoped that it could not be looked upon as an indication of the amount of interest felt in the Volunteer movement in Nottinghamshire. He should express his thanks to the association for their kindness in giving a prize to the Yeomanry.

Surgeon WRIGHT, honorary secretary, said there was no formal report to submit from Council, but a balance sheet had been prepared which he begged to submit as follows:-
